How a social service for-profit monitored their internal KPIs, strategies, and funding with AchieveIt
ABOUT STRATEGIES TO EMPOWER PEOPLE
Strategies to Empower People (S.T.E.P.) is a for-profit organization that acts very much like a nonprofit in the mission and company values. They provide a wide range of support services to adults with developmental disabilities, and focus on each individualized program based on the person’s unique needs.
LIFE IS GOOD
The organization partners with individuals that have physical or mental disabilities to develop their vocational skills and eventually place them in a job. Additionally, they provide assisted and independent living services to their clients. S.T.E.P. experienced major growth from 2002 to 2010. To keep up with growing demand, the organization worked to gain more funding to create new services and programs.
BIG CHALLENGE
But, with this high demand, challenges arose. As a social services agency in California, they must meet specific regulations and policies. Monitoring the internal KPIs and strategies across a wide range of services was a challenge. Since the organization was managing all the KPIs, strategies, and funding in different excel documents, presenting updates clearly to the board was difficult. This difficulty also created challenge for managers to hold their team accountable.
HELP ARRIVES
So, they turned to AchieveIt. Spreadsheets were replaced with one central location for all activities in the organization. Their meetings became more effective and they could identify KPIs that weren’t being met and take immediate action. They were also able to have visuals to present to the board that allowed them to better share their successes and areas of improvement.
LIFE IS EVEN BETTER
Now, they can spend less time worrying about spreadsheets and KPIs, and more time supporting their community. With each KPI met and strategy accomplished, more individuals are prepared and accepted into new jobs.
With AchieveIt, there’s an automated email that’s sent out to different people and plan owners, to provide updates on their progress. It’s holding people accountable and automating that whole exchange that constantly happens via email between a manager… and all of the people that own initiatives they need to report to.”
